Blog Prompt

The generally accepted definition of health is "a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity", used by the World Health Organisation (WHO) since 1948.
Physical health
Physical fitness refers to good body health, and is the result of regular exercise, proper and diet and nutrition, and proper rest for physical recovery.
A strong indicator of the health of localized population is their height or weight, which generally increases with improved nutrition and health care. This is also influenced by the standard of living and quality of life. Genetics also plays a major role in people's height. The study of human growth, its regulators, and implications is known as Auxology.

Mental health
Mental health refers to an individual's emotional and psychological well-being. "A state of emotional and psychological well-being in which an individual is able to use his or her cognitive and emotional capabilities, function in society, and meet the ordinary demands of everyday life."
One way to think about mental health is by looking at how effectively and successfully a person functions. Feeling capable and competent; being able to handle normal levels of stress, maintain satisfying relationships, and lead an independent life; and being able to "bounce back," or recover from difficult situations, are all signs of mental health.

There are different perspectives of just a unique word"Health". Many people may think that health is just being well and not sick. While some others think that health is being both not ill and perfecting physical, mental and social well-being.

I think that health is the well-being of a person. My perspective of well-being is to be physically, mentally and socially well. I do not quite think that health concerns the state of being ill. Being ill will go under the category of welfare of a person instead of health.

Others may think that being ill comes under health while physical, mental and social well-being comes under the category of welfare instead.

In conclusion, i would like to say that whatever our opinion of these issues are, we still are humans and need to work together to overcome problems like illnesses together as one.

4/3

today, we played table tennis as usual during break. But i am learning 2 new surfs that YiFan taught me. Those 2 surfs are hard to master. I will try my best!

NPCC
we reported at the SALT centre at about 2.45pm. We wore our PT kit( PE attire). Firstly, we fell in and practised a few drills. Then we continued into campcraft. We learnt how to make a round leashing by tying a rope onto 2 wooden poles. We learnt the X-method and the double-loop method. I found that the double-loop method was easier and quicker. We then spilt into different groups to tie a complete round leashing. After doing that, we had a 5min water break. Here is the most exciting part. Our NCOs allowed us to play soccer!YAY!Although i do not quite like playing football. We spilt into 4 groups, each having 9 people. I was in Group 2. we fought against Group 1. Something weird happened. I did not know what happened to my hands. They started to try to catch the ball( i am not the goalkeeper). In the end, I handball-ed twice. We had a draw. I feel so depressed as i made the oppponent have 2 chances of scoring. I really hoped i could control my hads then. During the game, i was trying to kick the ball away towards the other goalpost. But someone entangled my right leg and i fell, hurting my left knee(which is aching currently right now at 4/3 10.48pm). It was bleeding. I tried to pour water on it but the watered flowed and soaked my socks and shoes.

Hope to write again tomorrow if i have time.

Alternative ending of Nothing but the Truth

I am acting as AVI now.
I am supposed to rewrite the ending of the documentary novel.

Alternative Ending

I feel that the ending should be that Phillip Malloy apologising to the public, school and Miss Narwin. Most probably he would also stay his school and not transfer. He will study hard for the examinations, especially english, when he proves that he repented, his friends would soon return to him. He will also build up a great relationship with Miss Narwin. By then everyone will forgive Phillip for his lies. When his studies turn better, Coach Jamison will recruit him into the Track & Field team and he will excel in the area of sports. Soon, his talent will carry him further and he will win the 100m and 200m race. He, being so outstanding, will represent the country to run. During the next Olympics, he will win the race once again and become a famous figure known all around the world. At that moment, he will announce to the world of his past and thank Miss Narwin for being understanding to him as she forgave him. Being touched, he will shed tears of gratefulness. By that time, he will probably feel that he had done seriously too much to Ms Narwin and everyone else. Maybe he may even feel that he was foolish to have blown the matter up.

13 of February

On Friday, I reported for NPCC for the second time. But it is a total different feeling this time.
I felt that I was part of the EP3.
That day, Yi Fan, Eagan, Guo Wei, Yue Song and I went there together.
We did drills and pumping that day.
I felt that the water i drank that day was the most refeshing of all as it was tiring.
After that, i had to rush home to do my homework.

Question: Singapore and Moscow are the two countries that got into the final round of the bid for the Youth Olympics 2010. You are the leader of the Singapore team, about to make a presentation to the committee considering your bid. Prepare a presentation.

Answer:

Good Morning,
Today, I am here to make a presentation to you so as to allow Singapore to host the Youth Olympics. I feel that Singapore certainly has the ability to hold this prominent event. According to my information, the Youth Olympic Games are planned to be an international multi-sport event held every four years in staggered summer and winter events complementing the current Olympic Games, and will feature athletes between the ages of 14 and 18. The idea for such an event was envisioned in 2001 by International Olympic Committee(IOC) president Jacques Rogge. On July 6, 2007, IOC members at the 119th IOC session in Guatemala City approved the creation of a youth version of the Olympic Games.
The summer version will last at most twelve days, with the first edition taking place in mid-summer of 2010; the winter version will last a maximum of nine days, with the first edition taking place in early 2012. The IOC will allow a maximum of 3,500 athletes and 875 officials to participate at the summer games, while 970 athletes and 580 officials are expected at the winter games.

Requirements

It has been stressed that the host city should not have to build any major venues, with the exception of some temporary structures or possibly an Olympic village. Also, all competitions must be held in the host city, ruling out any joint bids. According to bid procedures, the track and field stadium for the opening and closing ceremonies must hold 10,000 people, and a city must have a 2,500-seat aquatics facility (for Summer editions).
Education and culture are also key components for this Youth edition. Not only does the education/culture aspect apply to athletes and participants, but also youth around the world and inhabitants of the host city and surrounding regions. Multi-lingual, multi-cultural, and multi-age requirements are the targets of the program which stress the themes of "Learning to know, learning to be, learning to do, and learning to leave together."
Each participating country would send at least four athletes. 170 countries are expected to participate in the 2010 Youth Summer Olympics. (There are over 200 National Olympic Committees, most of which participate at the "senior" Games). Participants will be grouped by age, for example, 14-15 years, and 16-18 years. One source indicates athletes will be chosen at least 18 months in advance, which suggests that some could be chosen as young as age 12. Other reports indicates the qualifications (which guidelines are being set in autumn of 2008) will occur between December 2009 and May 2010.At least one IOC member criticized the plan, noting that smaller teams from all countries may fail to capture the interest of the media, nations, and the athletes themselves.

Costs

Estimated costs are currently $30 million for the summer and $15 million-$20 million for winter games, primarily on infrastructure and lodging. The IOC will pay travel costs to the host city and room and board for the athletes and judges, estimated costs at $11 million. The funding will come from IOC funds and not revenues.

Thus, I think that Singapore should be the host of Youth Olympics 2010 as Singapore fulfills all the requirements. Singapore is also an excellent location as it lies between the Western countries and Asia. Thank you for your attention.
